Project overview
A rotten timber conservatory on a Grade II listed country house in the Romaldkirk conservation area was carefully removed and replaced with a fully aluminium orangery. Sensitively detailed in heritage grey to complement the original sandstone, the new structure pairs a glazed lantern roof with full-height glazing and bi-folding doors that open onto the gardens and Teesdale views. Every element — from listed building consent and conservation approval through to structural calculations, thermally broken aluminium frames and the finished interior — was handled by Alpine Extensions. The project reached the finals of the G23 Awards.
