Northumberland & surrounding areas
Alpine Extensions designs and builds bespoke home extensions throughout Northumberland — from the first ideas and your 4D design, through planning and Building Regulations, to a finished extension built by our own managed team.
Designed around your home
Very few families move because they dislike where they live. They move because the kitchen is too small, there is nowhere for everyone to sit, or the house simply does not work the way it used to. An extension solves that problem where you are.
Northumberland covers an unusually wide range of housing — traditional and stone-built properties, period cottages and townhouses, post-war semis and modern estate homes. A design that suits one of those rarely suits another, which is why we do not work from a standard template. Roof form, proportions, materials and where the glazing sits are all decided in relation to the house itself.
Alongside the property, we look at the space genuinely available around it and at what you want the new room to do: a wider kitchen and dining space, a family room that connects to the garden, or a bright orangery you can use in winter. You can see how that thinking plays out across our completed projects, or read more about Alpine Extensions.
What we build
Four ways to add space and light, each designed specifically for the property it joins.
One team, one contract
Extending a house can mean appointing an architect, a planning consultant, a structural engineer and a string of separate trades. We remove that entirely — the project is managed by us from the earliest design stage through to construction.
Your extension is completed plastered and ready to decorate, with the heating, electrics and plumbing already finished. The main things left for you are painting or decorating the walls and laying the flooring you have chosen.
How it works
We visit the property, understand what you want to achieve and assess the space you have available.
You can visualise and experience the proposed extension in detail before construction begins.
We manage the drawings, planning requirements, Building Regulations and relevant calculations.
Your extension is professionally built and managed through every stage of the programme.
The completed room is plastered and ready for you to decorate and lay your chosen flooring.

Client words
The 4D design was the moment it clicked. We changed the roof lantern twice on screen — and never once on site.
Questions
Cost depends on the individual project: the size and design of the extension, the specification you choose, the foundations required, how much glazing is involved and the particular characteristics of your property. We prepare a detailed quotation for your proposed project once we have visited the house and developed the design with you.
It varies from property to property. Some extensions fall within Permitted Development rights, while others require a planning application — and the answer can change depending on the design, the size of the plot and any restrictions that apply to your home. We assess the requirements for your project and manage the planning process where one is needed.
Yes. The Building Regulations process, together with the structural and SAP calculations required for your project, is managed by us as part of our complete extension service.
Northumberland has a broad mix of housing, from older traditional and stone-built homes to recent developments. Good extension design considers the appearance, proportions and character of the existing property rather than applying a standard template, so every project we design is worked out around the individual home and what the owner wants from the new space.
We work throughout Northumberland, including Morpeth, Ponteland, Darras Hall, Hexham, Corbridge, Cramlington, Prudhoe, Alnwick, Bedlington, Ashington and the surrounding areas.
We take care of the main building work along with the electrics, plumbing, heating, insulation and plastering. The extension is left plastered and ready to decorate, so the main things left to you are painting the walls and laying your chosen flooring.
